Freelancing with The Pond
I’m spending quite a bit of time in New Zealand at the moment. I still write a lot SEO and web copy for my Australian clients, and I’m also doing some freelance work in New Zealand as an SEO Specialist Writer via an agency called The Pond.
Establishing Kimchi Creative
I was part of the founding team at Kimchi Creative, a marketing & PR agency for the entertainment industry. Before leaving the business in 2011 I ran the company as General Manager while doing freelance projects with Healthy Words. I looked after a creative team including graphic designers, publicists, marketers, e-commerce specialists and media buyers. I also set up a bunch of successful online stores like Punk Shop and WWE DVD.
Climbing the marketing ropes
Before that I spent about 7 years working at a record company. I was the Marketing Manager there. That’s where I started writing copy commercially and it was the ideal environment to learn to write for the web, mass media and targeted advertising, print and TV. There were no style guides, nothing to restrict good ideas. Just good people throwing around ideas and encouraging creativity.
And for those interested in Qualifications
I studied Business as an undergrad at Monash Uni in Melbourne before doing a Masters Degree in Marketing. I was invited to stick around for the Honors program but an academic life isn’t for me.
